AHHH 2010!!!

HEY so this is the first post of the new year.
and I had a terrific night.
WHICH was documented with a billion pictures
that i all accidentally erased off my memory card
(over 400 pictures- not all from tonight)
but now tomorrow i need to go and relive everything and pretend that a part of me isnt devastated.
but i am not going to let this small insignificant occurance ruin my new decade in any way!
plus i recieved a long distance phonecall from thailand!
(thats pretty special.... HAVE YOU ever gotten a phone call from thailand.... and if so well then just let me think im special)
but i have to say this has been one of the best new years ever.

this is 2010.

AGH.

oh and a drunk lady tried to open the car door i was in.
hahaa
that was comical.

tonight was just beautiful though....
now im rambling and its 2:02

New Year

For the New Year I have decided that I wanted to do something with purpose and something that I would actually stick to for my "New Years Resolution". Every year so far I pretty much sum up my resolution to "become more physically fit, gain muscle, and somehow gain some sort of athletic ability". This year though I decided to just take advantage of the things I already have. I have a computer and a life. Therefore blogging about my life shouldnt be that difficult. I go on weekly and daily adventures if its with my venture crew, myself, or my other close friends. I make things daily (paintings/clothing/random crafts) so why not document these things that way I can track personal growth? Also there are many ideas that never go any where in my brain so maybe if I put them out into the world someone can do something with them if I can't figure it out myself.

Overall though I'm not expecting that many people to read this so I suppose it's a selfish resolution. But if I at least make this promise to myself I can say I have done something to improve.

So hidyho this is the beginning of a new and improved "Happy Little Blog"

Yes that name is quite appropriate if you ask me.

Oh Amelia

Amelia Earhart...apparently Hermes loves her as much as I do. They created an entire line inspired by her (you can find the complete collection in the latest edition of Harper's Bazaar)

the conversation of one side.

the funny thing is that you never knew anything.
you always held yourself on some higher level looking down upon me, counting the hairs on my head.
the funny this is that you never though of me as beautiful.
but just kind of mediocre in everyway, just as how i think of myself.
you are not supposed to think of me like that. sometimes you are just supposed to lie.
yes, i know we should be honest with eachother.
but we never are anymore so why should that be any different?
i really cant tell you anymore than i already have or you are going to make me feel bad.
i shouldnt feel bad.
no that doesnt mean I want you to feel bad.
its not about you, believe me.
its always about you, but believe it or not for once its about me.
oh is that selfish? im sorry
im so sorry
no i am not being sarcastic.
i am actually generally sorry you feel that way.
i am sorry I am of no importance.
yes that is fine.
now I just wont say anything at all.
thats want you want?
then thats that.

goodbye

" Where are you going?"
"Away. I already exaplained."
"Just because you explained doesn't mean I understand"
"I can't promise you ever will."

Once again she had no response.

Mad Tea Party

I have a major thing for all things tea.
The tea itself.
The teacups.
The teapots.
Tea parties.

This mosiac teapot was made by the user paintedcottages on etsy.

It is very French/Marie Antoinette therefore it is beautiful in my book.

i dont like to write very much. but i have ideas, so i suppose i should try to execute them.

tearing apart the world with her eyes
starting at the tree tops
working towards the sky

moving forward without her limbs
the ground falling in at her very whim
the world collapsing at her feet
she is greeted by defeat

"hello" he says
and offers his arm
his smile a facade of charm

there are no more trees
and no more sky
just the meet and greet
of her herself and defeat.

A small personal statement

It's extremely hard missing someone you are used to always being there

Don't take them for granted

You'll regret it.

Hats are my favorite acessories. The hat maker of these amazing ones is the user RetroReproHandmade on etsy. She really inspires me to make some felt hats.
Oh and I'll have some new designs up soon.

update

I read the the "Butterflies are Free" script by Leonard Gershe that I am going to design costumes for. It is for the International Thespian Society, and at district competition I will be heavily criqued/interrogated until I'm drenched in prespiration.

The play is a comedy in two acts. It is about a young man named Don who is around 20 years old that moves into a shabby apartment in New York City. He meet his neighbor Jill who is nineteen and a fleety hippie. The thing is Don is blind and Jill has a weird feeling that if she sleeps with Don and then continues a commitment shell end up leaving and hurting him.

Its a really great play, wrote in the 1960's.

I'm very excited about designing.

chicka!

The other day a friend of mine and I were at Michaels Craft Store, and I saw this book of little crochet/knit animals. I immediately picked it up and told him that "I am going to make these since they are adorable" he looked at me and said "No. Your not." I hate to be doubted, so here we go folks.

baby chicken with a pink hair bow!
I could not for the life of me figure out the crochet pattern (need to practice that) so I just kinda made this one up. Its all in slip stich and single stitch crochet with a size 4 .5 needle.

New Etsy Post!

I felt like being productive, so I made a bracelet!

I did not get to go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels so I just tried using random things lying around and this is what I came up with.

"There's a starman waiting in the sky

He'd like to come and meet us

But he thinks he'd blow our minds"

Oh Bowie what you do to me.

tiny

little girl spinning round
then she falls onto the ground
seems so simple
seems so neat
likes to jump up on her feet

once in a while this little girl cries
but its only when she says goodbyes
her locket hangs on her neck
but she puts her hand up just to check
no one knows what she has inside
she only lets out small soft sighs

staring out into the blue
if only if only someone knew.

OH Poe!

My drama class is putting on various one acts of tales by Edgar Allen Poe. One of the one acts is "The Cask of Amontillado". I decided to take it upon myself to do the costuming for all the shows in my class, which include "Tell Tale Heart" and "The Fall of the House of Usher". So as I am working on Cask, I realize I need to make a mask for one of the characters because he was going to a festival. I said bring on the sequins!

I'm considering making some masquerade masks with feathers and sequins to sell on my etsy site because I enjoyed making this one so much!

b.t.w I found some size 15 knitting needles and peacock colored yarn! Any project ideas?

oh men.

The Art of Dressing.
I love the rolled up pant. the bow tie. fitted sweaters. toggle button coats. lace up shoes.
goodness how things have changed.

outfit

So I find thrifting to be one of the most amazing experiences one can experience in life.
for example
This outfit is a bargain. I bought the black oversized blazer at goodwill as well as the blue and white daisy dress ( dont worry there are shorts under it!) I made the bow tie myself out of some old fabric. The combat boots were 90% off at DSW.
YAY discounts.
p.s do you, or anyone else you know want to model? since i really much rather not have myself model things. gracias.

Insanium in the Cranium

There is a little girl who has this AMAZING blog.

I admire her oh so much.

She's truly unbelievable.

Makes me realize I have A LOT of work to do.

eloise!

Oh how I love Eloise.

lovely

So I have found an amazing designer on etsy that goes by the username "sarahseven" I have already emailed her telling her how much I love all of her work.
The intricate pleating, the beautiful draping, the color, cinched waist, and outlined bust makes it the perfect siloutte in my book. The models skin tone goes so nicely with the dress, but I'm sure a darker skinned girl woul look stellar as well.

Look up sarahseven on http://www.etsy.com/ you won't regret it.

I have also noticed that Emma Watson (our beloved Hermoine) seems to be the newest face of Burberry. This is thrilling because shes beautiful in non conventional way and is being a sophistacted role model. Plus is gives burberry a more youthful side.

more magazine madness

So I decided to decorate my planner and french binder. Oh how I love magazine cut outs!

yay knitting!

So my friend Janna and I have been all gung ho for knitting lately (we knit on the bus!) She just completed a beautiful cozy scarf. At first I was also going to make a scarf but decided I should try to make something else, so thus the idea of the ear warmer/ topless hat/ headband whatever you wanna call it :)
ps. sorry for the crappy pic quality it was taken on a phone

crafty

I had some extra fabric from previous projects laying around and decided to make a "nature inspired" tote bag. I'm considering selling it on my etsy site, but just may have to keep it for myself :)

design

So I really felt like designing a dress that made the wearer look like a rose. I'm picturing the fabric to be hand dyed chiffon, and to be layered like the petals of a rose. I also got to practice using watercolors in the process. Im thinking about desigining an entire collection inspired by flowers. :)

Magazine Dress

So my favorite medium to work with is paper. Which is weird, but I think its because I never really learned to drape very well, and hot glue is the answer to all. But I started making this dress when I found a cool D&G ad of a family, then it just kind of happened. It took about three days, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results :]

So I Have Been

Working on a dress made of magazines (because I missed working with paper since the Panache Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show last year)

My Collection from last years show. My collection portrayed certain animals (from left: peacock, zebra, rainbow fish, cheetah, parrot, and flamingo)
This is a design by one of my best friends Savannah Rake, She constructed this gum rapper dress and is modeled by Katrina Harrison at last years Fashion Show.

I'll make sure to post my new dress when I'm done, thanks for reading!

watering

So I've been working on some new design ideas, and I really want to do the whole watercolor fashion design scene. I'm having a rocky start but I'm excited to see where this method will take me :]

If any of you have any ideas of what I should do to better execute my designs, or have any of your own designs or art please leave a comment!

Let them dance :]

As of late I am infatuated with the 1920's.
The fashion, the hair, the overall style of women sporting their long bathing suits.
On my journey of looking at all of these twenties pictures I found an artist that I find to be quite inspirational, Georges Barbier. He captures the essence of the 1920's, maintains a fashion design element through his pieces and they are working pieces of art.

This drawing is called "la danse" by Georges Barbier.

Let the chaos begin!

Today as I was browsing page after page on Etsy I decided just needed someone to share the thrill and love of making things with. I was perusing at chain stores the other day I realized I am far more interested in what people can make themselves rather than what machines can make. Therefore this is my ode to all the creative people out there, whatever it may be, drawing, painting, sewing, styling, making music, thrifting, designing. You make the world a tad more colorful. I'm just searching for all the things in life that are a bit out of the ordinary that way I can document that "color" forever.
